EL PASO, TEXAS - Three away tournaments and 11 home matches, including visits from nationally-ranked Colorado State (No. 23) and BYU (No. 25), will highlight the 2014 UTEP volleyball schedule, as announced by head coach Holly Watts on Thursday.

"In the preseason we are going to face a lot of challenges which will give us great preparation for the conference season," Watts said. "We are going to play against high performance teams allowing us to grow and really gage where we are as a team."

The Miners, coming off a 14-16, 7-7 C-USA (9th out of 15) mark during the 2013 season, return eight letterwinners to the court this fall. UTEP will kick off the 2014 campaign with a tournament at the University of New Mexico. The Miners will face UNM, Seattle and Watt's alma mater No. 2 Texas.

The Orange and Blue will then venture to Macomb, Ill. where they will take on St. Louis, Eastern Illinois and tournament host Western Illinois.

After two weeks on the road, the Miners will open the home portion of their slate with a tournament against perennial powers Colorado State and BYU.

"I am excited to have Colorado State and BYU in our opening home weekend here at Memorial Gym," Watts said. " Both universities have excellent programs, giving us the opportunity to highlight a great match early in the season for our fans."

The team will round out the non-conference schedule with a two-day tournament in Denver, Colo., on Sept. 19-20, against Denver, San Francisco and Nevada.

Conference USA action commences the final week of September, with UTEP hosting 2013 C-USA Champion UTSA (Sept. 22), North Texas (Sept. 26) and FAU (Sept. 28).

The Miners, 83-51 at home since 2007, will also welcome Rice (Oct. 17), C-USA Newcomer Western Kentucky (Oct. 19), FIU (Nov. 7) and Charlotte (Nov. 9)

The C-USA championships are slated for Nov. 21- 24 in Hattiesburg, Miss.

UTEP will wrap up the 2014 season with two final home matches when it faces off against I-10 rival NM State (Nov. 28) and Big 12 powerhouse TCU (Nov. 29).
