Miners Release 2004 Schedule
UTEP volleyball Head Coach Scott Swanson released the 2004 schedule Monday. The Miners will compete in 12 home matches including the Sept. 8 season opener against South Dakota State.
"Because of the youth of our team we all looking to build some confidence with our non-conference schedule," commented Swanson. "We are excited about the schedule. We have 27 matches this year which is less than the 30 from last year but I think it is a good number of matches with the experience we will have."
Western Athletic Conference play is slated to begin in Dallas, Texas, against SMU on Sept. 23, with the first conference home match scheduled for Sept. 30 versus Tulsa.
UTEP's non-conference home dates include Western New Mexico, UTPA, New Mexico State and Sul Ross State.
The Miners will participate in two tournaments, at Texas Tech and at the University of New Mexico, while the WAC Tournament is scheduled for No. 19-21 at a site yet to be named. In Lubbock, Texas, the Miners will square off against North Carolina AT&T, Texas Tech, North Texas and UTPA. In Albuquerque, N.M., UTEP is slated to face New Mexico, Weber State and Hartford.
