EL PASO - UTEP volleyball's Stephanie Figueroa named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America® Division I Volleyball second team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A 2010 C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medalist, Figueroa carries a flawless 4.0 grade point average in multidisciplinary studies. The libero ranks fifth in the conference in digs per set with a 4.80 avg. and has posted double-digit dig performances in 27 of 30 contests this season. The senior leads the Miners at the service line with .35 aces per set and ranks first in the league. The Puerto Rican native has been named C-USA Player of the Week twice this season and four times during her career. Figueroa has helped the volleyball team accumulate over 1,400 hours of volunteer assistance.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
