Kellie Ryan was named UTEP volleyball assistant coach on March 16, 2006.

Ryan came to UTEP after serving as a volunteer assistant at the University of Idaho with Miner head coach Ken Murphy. Before Idaho, she spent five years as head coach at Seattle Pacific University. An accomplished player at Seattle Pacific, Ryan returned to her alma mater as a head coach in 2000, just the second coach to take over the reins of the prestigious program.

She led the Falcons to a 24-6 finish and a 20-match win streak, boosting SPU to the Division II playoffs for the first time. During her tenure, she posted an 83-51 record and guided Seattle Pacific to its first two NCAA tournament appearances in 2000 and 2001.

Prior to Seattle, Ryan was a graduate assistant at Syracuse University from 1996-97.

Ryan played for Seattle Pacific from 1988-91, earning all-conference honors as a senior, and currently holds the school records for career service aces and single match assists. After her collegiate career ended, Ryan returned to her alma mater as an assistant coach from 1994-95 under her former coach JoAnn Atwell-Scrivner, whom she later succeeded.

Ryan received her bachelor's degree in business in from Seattle Pacific in 1992 and added a master's in education from Syracuse in 1998. She was born on Nov. 21, 1969.
