Bloczynska Earns All-C-USA Honors
April 29, 2008
Junior tennis player Weronika Bloczynska has been named to the All-Conference USA third team, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday. It marks the third straight year that a Miner has landed on an all-league squad, including two consecutive recognitions for Bloczynska. In receiving the accolades, Bloczynska becomes just the second Miner in program history to gain all-conference honors on multiple occasions. Former great Tanja Magoc was a four-time recipient, reaping the award from 1997-2000. UTEP's No. 1 player compiled a 16-6 record on the season, including an impressive 9-3 mark in limited dual-match action due to an injury. She started dual-match play at 8-1 to help UTEP burst out of the gates at 7-2 as a squad. An injury sidelined Bloczynska, and the Miners had a challenging performance during the ensuing nine matches.
