EL PASO, Texas - The UTEP women's tennis team will host Louisiana-Monroe (10 a.m. MT) and Western New Mexico (3 p.m.) on March 29 at the El Paso Tennis Club.

The Miners (8-11, 2-1 Conference USA) are coming off a pair of losses to New Mexico (March 22) and NM State (March 23). Both ended in 4-3 defeats.

"We had two tough losses," head coach Myriam Sopel said. "As I told the team, it's not the time to get discouraged. They've been putting a lot of effort throughout the season and working hard in practice. We'll keep working hard for these upcoming matches, but our final objective is the conference tournament."

Louisiana-Monroe (4-7) and Western New Mexico (0-13) are two of the final four matches before the Conference USA Tournament in Norfolk, Va. on April 16-20.

"Despite the losses, they fought really hard and played really good tennis. It just came down to a few key points that can change the match," Sopel said. "ULM and Western New Mexico are two good matches and very winnable. We have the goal to win these matches and to carry that momentum to Norfolk."

After this weekend, the Miners will finish out the regular season against Idaho (April 11) and Arkansas State (April 13) in the Sun City. UTEP's scheduled match against Tarleton State on April 5 is cancelled.

Rebeca Calvillo and Davina Meza have been stellar thus far during the spring season. The pair is in the midst of a four-match winning steak, forging a 12-3 record on the No. 1 court. Overall, the duo is 20-8 during the 2013-14 season.

In dual-match singles action, Calvilo, Meza and Daphne Visscher have each won 11 matches. Gabi Vazquez has won 10, while Marie LeBlond has won nine. Visscher is currently on a five-match winning streak, while Meza has won her last four.
