UTEP Tames Nevada, 7-0
SALT LAKE CITY The UTEP tennis team rebounded from Friday's loss with a 7-0 win over WAC foe Nevada at the Eccles Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Utah Saturday.
UTEP won two of three doubles matches for the first point of the match and steamrolled through singles play with six straight-set victories. The Miners are 2-3 on the season and will face Utah on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
"This was a good confidence builder to go into the Utah match," head coach Jamie Campbell said. "I am happy to get our first WAC win as well."
UTEP clinched the doubles point when Kendall Exelby and Weronika Bloczynska got a 8-3 win at the No. 1 spot.
On the singles side, only three matches lasted more than 16 games. Bloczynska won her third consecutive match as she improved to 3-1. Exelby picked up her first dual match win of the season with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Fiorella Velez, who has been a member of the Peru National Team.
