BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UTEP tennis team earned its 11th win of the season after rolling through Alabama State, 7-0, on Saturday morning at George Ward Park.

The Birmingham trip will continue when the Miners (11-10, 1-1 C-USA) take on conference foe UAB (11-6, 1-1 C-USA) on Sunday at 9 a.m. MT.

In singles play, junior Rebeca Calvillo upped her record at No. 1 to 12-3 after beating Arantxia Wijngaarde, 6-1, 6-1, while her 16 wins in dual match play are a career high. Senior Martina Trierweiler recorded her ninth win at the No. 2 spot, winning over Melissa Telfer, 6-1, 6-1. Junior Gabi Vazquez and freshman Jamie-Leigh Michau beat their opponents in straight sets, while junior Marie Leblond and Matilda Rose Tench were victorious in their matches.

On the doubles side, Trierweiler and Calvillo picked up win 11, beating Pauline Denis and Telfer, 8-1, at the No. 1 spot. LeBlond and Vazquez are 14-6 after their win over the team of Wijngaarde and Katja Kraus, 8-2.
