UTEP Tennis Falls to No. 32 Memphis

UTEP v Memphis Results Get Acrobat Reader

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The UTEP tennis team fell to No. 32 Memphis, 7-0, at The Racquet Club of Memphis on Saturday morning.

The Tigers (14-4, 2-0 C-USA) handled the Miners (10-10, 1-1 C-USA) taking the doubles points with ease. Tiffany Welcher and Alyssa Hibberd shutout senior Martina Trierweiler and junior Rebeca Calvillo, 8-0, on the No. 1 court. The No. 64 team of Stefanie Mikesz and Caroline Wegner took care of juniors Gabi Vazquez and Marie Leblond, 8-3, at No. 2.

On the singles side, Calvillo played Courtney Collins tough at the No. 1 spot, but fell to the No. 34 ranked player in the nation, 6-4, 6-4.

The Miners will travel to Birmingham, Ala. to take Alabama State (10 a.m. MT) on Saturday and conference foe UAB (9 a.m. MT) on Sunday.
