El Paso, Texas- UTEP softball's Chelsea Troupe was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team league officials announced on Tuesday. The team consists of 11 softball student-athletes with a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and must be a starter or key reserve on their team.

Troupe, an Oceanside, Calif. native, holds a 3.43 GPA as an Education major. This is the first time Troupe has been named to the All-Academic team. She has been a three-time selection to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Troupe was one of only two miners to start in every game for the Miners during the 2012 campaign. She ranks among the conference's Top 5 in 11 major offensive categories. Her 19 home runs placed her 10th in the nation in the category. Troupe batted a stellar .426 in 53 games for the Orange and Blue driving in 44 on 69 hits and scoring 56 runs.
