Miners Blanked by Tulsa in Final C-USA Contest

El Paso, Texas – The Golden Hurricane completed a three game sweep of UTEP with an 11-0 five-inning victory on Sunday in Tulsa, Okla. The Miners fell to 14-36 overall and 3-21 in conference play as they wrapped up their conference schedule for 2012.

Colleen Hohman started the game for the Miners and gave up a quick six runs on two hits and six walks before giving way to Cynthia Villastrigo who got the final two outs of the first. Villastrigo gave up three earned runs on two hits and three walks in 1.2 innings of work.

Joanna Krienitz pitched the final two innings for UTEP surrendering two runs on two hits and two walks.

Lacey Middlebrooks threw four shutout innings allowing just four hits to four different Miners. Middlebrooks also recorded five strikeouts in the game.

The Miners will play their final series of the season with a three game tilt at home against New Mexico starting with a single game on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
