March 25, 2012
El Paso, Texas - The UTEP Softball team could not avoid the sweep at the hands of the East Carolina Pirates on Saturday in Greenville, NC. The Pirates topped the Miners (12-21, 2-7 C-USA) 5-1 in the contest.
Chelsea Troupe clubbed her 13th home run of the season in the first inning but that was the only run the Miners were able to score. ECU’s starter Christian pitched a complete game scattering just seven hits with the one run and five strikeouts.
Cynthia Villastrigo also went the distance for UTEP throwing six innings giving up five runs on seven hits and five walks.
UTEP will return home for a three game series against Marshall beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday March 31 at 2:00 at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex.
