Miners Lose Season Finale

Junior Erika Arcuri was one of the top hitters in C-USA as she finished with a .347 average in her first season. The native of Tampa, Fla. was flawless on the field in league play as she did not record an error.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The UTEP softball team dropped its season finale to Marshall, 8-3, on a rainy Cinco de Mayo morning at Dot Hicks Softball Field.

The Thundering Herd (32-20, 13-10 C-USA) scored three runs in the first inning and five more in the next three on the Miners (13-35, 2-21 C-USA) as Andi Williamson picked up her 29th win of the season, while striking out eight batters.

Junior Alanna Leasau recorded her 40th RBI on a single to left field in the fifth inning as the first-year Miner went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Freshman Morgan Rasmason(1-for-3) broke into the stat column with her first-career RBI on a seventh inning single to the shortstop.

Senior Kayla Oranger, junior Erika Arcuri, and sophomore Ashley Eldridge each recorded two hits, while junior Colleen Hohman and senior Charissa Ballesteros each had a hit. Arcuri added another run as she finished with 26 runs to lead the team in her first season in the Orange and Blue, while senior Ashley Collazoalso scored a run.

Marshall will travel to Tulsa, Okla. for the Conference USA Tournament May 9-11. UTEP will stay home for a third year in a row.
