Tulsa Storms Past UTEP

TULSA, Okla. – A trio of miscues by UTEP’s defense gave Tulsa all it needed to get past the UTEP softball team, as the Miners fell, 9-0 in five innings to the Hurricane on Sunday at the Hardesty Complex in Tulsa, Okla.
The Miners fall to 31-20 and 11-10 in C-USA while Tulsa improves to 28-20 and 11-6 in league action.
Stacie Townsend took the loss, giving up five runs in 2.1 innings of play. Joanna Krienitz, who came in relief of Townsend, scattered three hits and had just one of the four runs scored on her watch, earned.
Camilla Carrera recorded UTEP’s only hit of the day, a single into left field in the top of the second.
Tulsa scored two in the first inning, three in the third, and the final four in the fourth for the triumph. Three of the four runs in the fourth were unearned due to UTEP errors.
UTEP returns to action on Saturday, May 8 when it hosts UCF in the final regular season series of 2010. The doubleheader is slated for 12 p.m. at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex.
