BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UTEP softball team dropped a couple games to UAB on a sunny Saturday afternoon at UAB Softball Field. The Miners (12-26, 1-15 C-USA) fell to the Blazers (27-11, 15-3 C-USA), 7-2, in game one and lost, 5-1, in game two.

In game one, senior Kayleigh Walts and junior Alanna Leasaueach drove in a run as UTEP went into the sixth inning down 4-2, but the Blazers put up three runs to finish the Miners.

Senior Kayla Oranger and Leasau each had two hits, while Oranger and junior Erika Arcuriscored a run each. Laesau added another RBI in game two.

Southern Miss dropped a pair of games at UCF on Saturday. The Miners and Golden Eagles are battling to stay out of last place to earn a spot in the conference post-season tournament.

UTEP and UAB will play the final game of the series on Sunday, Noon CT (11 a.m. MT).
