FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The UTEP softball team couldn't overcome Colorado State's consistent hitting and pitching, as the Rams (22-9) defeated the Miners (12-27), 9-1 in six innings, on a cold Sunday afternoon at Ram Field.

Kawehiokalani Netane accounted for the Miners only run, plating Erika Arcuri on a sac-fly to right field in the third inning. Arcuri and Tahla Wade each recorded a hit, while Alanna Leasau connected on two for the Miners.

Colorado State used 11 hits to down UTEP, including Ashlie Ortega's game-winning solo home run in the sixth inning.

The Rams' Jaelyn Manzanares led the way with four RBI, including a three-run home run to left field in the third inning. Haley Hutton finished the day 3-for-3 with two RBI and a solo home run in the fifth inning.

The Miners will continue Conference USA action when they play host to Middle Tennessee April 12 and 13 at Helen of Troy Softball Field.
