LAS CRUCES, N.M. - NM State scored five runs in the second inning and six in the third during a 14-3 victory in five innings over UTEP on Tuesday night at the NM State Softball Complex.

The two programs faced each other three times during the 2014 campaign, as the Aggies (18-15) took two from the Miners (12-21) to win the season series.

The Aggies scored two runs in the first inning, but the Miners tied the contest in the top of the second on a two-run home run to right center by Kawehiokalani Netane.

The Miners scored another run during the third inning when Netane was walked with bases loaded that brought Erika Arcuri across home plate.

But the Aggies were too much as they tallied 12 hits, including two long balls in the third inning. Staci Rodriguez blasted her 11th home run of the season, a solo shot to leftfield, while Alyssa Ruiz got involved in the hit parade as she hit a two-run shot to right center.

Ashley Eldridge recorded her nation-leading 16th double of the season. He season total is tied third best in program history. The season record is held by Camilla Carrera's 19 during the 2009 season.

UTEP will continue its Conference USA slate when they face No. 18 Tulsa this weekend in Oklahoma (March 29 and 30). The first game of Saturday's doubleheader will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest (2 p.m. MT).
