2008 (SENIOR): An NFCA Scholar Athlete and Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medalist ... participated in 50 of 54 games for UTEP with 45 starts behind the plate ... became the career record holder for runners picked off with 10 and has caught 43 runners stealing base, including 15 runners in 35 attempts in 2008 ... led the Miners in putouts with 309 ... knocked 24 hits, scored 16 times with eight doubles, one home run and 14 RBI ... hit by a pitch seven times during the 2008 campaign and was 3-for-4 in stolen bases.

2007 (JUNIOR): Conference USA All-Academic honoree and was a recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Medal...was an NFCA Scholar Athlete and named Athlete of the Year by the El Paso Optimist Club...played in all 51 games for UTEP...batted .300, and connected for 27 hits while scoring 18 times...launched six homeruns, four doubles and was one of just two players to hit a triple...had the second-highest slugging percentage on the squad with .567...drew six walks and pitches...totaled five sacrifice hits and was 2-for-2 in stolen bases...led the Miners in putouts with 295 and had 33 assists while committing just three errors for a fielding percentage of .991...caught 12 runners stealing in 2007 to rate first on the team and fourth in the league...picked-off five runners, the most by any player in UTEP history...turned five double plays...notched her first career homerun - a grand slam - against Grambling State (Feb. 10).

2006 (SOPHOMORE): Made 42 starts for UTEP...tallied nine runs on 11 hits with five RBI...first on the team in putouts with 260 including 34 assists...had six sacrifice hits and one sacrifice fly...recorded a double against Kennesaw State...hit a season-best against Southern Miss, going 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

2005 (FRESHMAN): Utilized as a pinch runner for her speed, Schaeffer also saw time as a pinch hitter...compiled a .500 batting average, going four-for-eight including three runs and one RBI.

PRIOR TO UTEP: Finished her senior season with a .390 batting average, 140 total bases and 27 stolen bases...named the 2004 District 1-5A Most Valuable Player, All-State catcher and the Coronado High School Female Athlete of the Year...named All-City Most Valuable Player as a senior...tabbed the All-District Co-Most Valuable Player and earned second team All-City honors in 2003, while leading the Thunderbirds to the district title...earned first team All-District and honorable mention All-City honors in 2002...also lettered in basketball...tabbed first team All-District her junior and senior seasons...ranked in the top eight percent of Coronado's graduating class, and listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students.

PERSONAL: Rachel Marie Schaeffer is the daughter of Ruben and Rita Schaeffer...born on Aug. 22, 1986 in El Paso, Texas...has one brother (Brandon) and one sister (Sarah).
