UTEP Soccer Earns Prestigious NSCAA Team Academic Award

EL PASO, Texas - UTEP soccer has received a prestigious honor by earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for once again having a team GPA of 3.0 or better during the 2011-12 scholastic year. The Miners had an exemplary performance with a 3.12 cumulative GPA as a squad. UTEP also was recognized by Conference USA this past year, piling up 24 academic honors. The Orange and Blue placed 16 members on the 2011-12 C-USA Academic Honor Roll (minimum 3.0 GPA) in addition to having eight secure C-USA Academic Medals (min. 3.75 GPA) . "I am very proud of UTEP Soccer's achievements in the classroom," head coach Kevin Cross. "Success in the class room as well as on the soccer field shows a lot about this team's character. I really appreciate UTEP Soccer's commitment to academic success." . UTEP is also looking to be in good shape for earning the award for the 2012-13 scholastic year, with the team once again taking care of business in the classroom. Three Miners were voted onto the distinguished 2012 C-USA All-Academic Team, in the form of Tess Hall, Tori Martyn & Azia Nicholson. . Additionally, Hall and Asuchak were selected to the 2012 CoSIDA All-District Second-Team. . Overall the Miners have now earned more than 185 academic awards since the inception of the program. .
