EL PASO, TEXAS –   UTEP soccer standout Tori Martyn was one of 15 student-athletes across Conference USA to receive the Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship Award, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

This is the sixth year the award has been named for Dr. Castañeda, who served Rice University for 46 years as an educator, coach and Faculty Athletics Representative before he passed away in November 2008. The conference annually presents the $4,000 Postgraduate Scholarship awards to graduates as selected by the C-USA Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the Board of Directors.

Martyn was a four-year standout for the Miners who started 78 of 80 games during her career (2010-13). She logged 6701 minutes of playing time to rate sixth all time in program history while contributing nine goals and 10 assists for 28 points. UTEP compiled a record of 44-32-7 during her time in the Sun City, including 12-6-3 in 2013.

She was a two-time (2012 & 2013) All-Conference USA performer in addition to being voted to the NSCAA All-Region Central Team in 2013.

Martyn excelled in the classroom as well. She was recognized as a Top Ten senior at UTEP on April 13.
