Former Miner midfielder standout Azia Nicholson has made a smooth transition from the pitch to the sidelines. She is in her second year as a program coordinator for the program. Her duties include, but are not limited to, game-day filming, and assisting with practice and game-day set-up.

Nicholson enjoyed an outstanding career from 2010-13 with the Orange and Blue. One of two players in program history to secure All-Region honors on three occasions, Nicholson owns the school standard for career minutes played 7349).

She started all 84 matches of her career, scoring 20 goals while adding nine assists.
After being named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team in 2010, Nicholson went on to reap All-Conference accolades the final three years of her career.

She thrived in the classroom as well, landing on the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll all four years. She was a three-time recipient of the C-USA Academic Medal (minimum 3.75 GPA required). She was twice voted to the C-USA Women's Soccer All-Academic team and also earned placement on the All-District VII squad in 2011.

She graduated from UTEP with a degree in biology in December 2014.
