UTEP Soccer Spring Exhition Season In Full Swing
The UTEP soccer team is in the midst of its annual exhibition spring slate, and Miner faithful still have plenty of chances to get an early glimpse at the 2010 squad. UTEP, which will play seven training events throughout the spring, will return to the pitch when it takes on a squad comprised of Miner alumni at University Field at 5 p.m. MT on Saturday, March. 6.
The Orange and Blue will then face Pacific-10 power Arizona at 12 p.m. MT on Sunday, March 7. UTEP will partake in a 7 vs. 7 tournament in Tucson, Ariz. (March 27) before welcoming Eastern New Mexico to town for a 12 p.m. MT match on April 11.
The Miners will venture up the road to challenge I-10 rival New Mexico State at 7 p.m. MT on April 15, and will wrap up the exhibition season at home against an Alberta Provincial team at 1 p.m. MT on April 24.
UTEP got off to a solid start with the spring opener, tying Arizona State.

UTEP Soccer Lands Talented Recruiting Class
The UTEP soccer team has been the epitome of consistent success in recent years, and in order to ensure its achievements continue for the foreseeable future, head coach Kevin Cross announced the signing of nine talented individuals to national letters of intent on Feb. 3.
The gifted group of newcomers is comprised of seven players from the state of Texas, including a pair of El Pasoans, a native of Arizona and an individual who hails from Alberta, Canada.

School-Record Three Miners Earn Regional Awards
Following the program-best eighth straight winning season, a school-record three UTEP soccer players have garnered placement on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Region Central Team. Chelsea Winbush grabbed first-team accolades, Tameka Sumter landed on the second team and freshman Skye Schulz was a third-team recipient.

A report by CQ press has ranked El Paso, Texas, the second-safest U.S. cities with a population of 500,000 or more. Therefore, student-athletes on the UTEP soccer team are able to pursue their academic endeavors and play soccer that not only has great weather (318 days of sunshine per year) but is also very safe!
