Taking It To C-USA Foes

The UTEP soccer team has won three straight matches and is right of thick of things for the race for a Conference USA Championship! Heading into the final home matches of 2009, the Miners are an impressive 6-2-0 in league play to stand in a three-way tie for second place. Among the more notable victories this year for UTEP was a victory on the road at two-time defending league champion Memphis.

Regional Rankings And Rising RPI

With the way the UTEP soccer team has been playing lately, it was only a matter of time before the rest of the country took notice. The recognition came recently in the form of the Miners cracking into the top 10 of the very competitive NCAA Central Region rankings according to the NSCAA. Additionally, UTEP's efforts have elevated it all the way to 52nd (out of 322 teams nationally) for RPI as released by the NCAA.

U-20 Canadian National Team To Train At UTEP

The U-20 Canadian National Team will hold a training camp at UTEP from Oct. 26-31.The training site is a natural fit for the team, given the multitude of connections there are between Canada and UTEP soccer. Miner assistant coach Kelly Parker is a member of the Canadian National Team while junior Anoop Josan started for Canada at the U-20 FIFA Women's World Cup last year. The 2009 squad features four natives of Canada, in the form of starters Josan, Melissa Desilets, Chandra Morden and reserve freshman Brittany Kindzierski.Team Canada will use the Miners' facilities and train at University Field throughout the week, while also venturing to Mexico for a pair of matches.

Fun On The Road

The UTEP soccer team means business when it plays on the road-evidenced by the squad racing out to a 3-0 start this year in hostile territory- but head coach Kevin Cross ensures that the team has some great experiences off the pitch when it travels. Recently the Miners toured famed Graceland, including the site of Elvis Presley's home. At the airport before the team flew back to El Paso, UTEP soccer got a chance to meet famous R&B singer and songwriter Ne-Yo.

The Winning Ways Of UTEP Soccer

The UTEP soccer team is in the midst of another great year, as it stands at 12-4-0 (6-2-0 C-USA) heading into the final home matches of the year. The effort should come as no surprise, though, as the Miners have now recorded a school-record eight straight winning seasons. All of them have featured at least 10 victories. Additionally, with 73 triumphs since the start of 2005 UTEP soccer has more wins than any other school in C-USA.

Buy A Goal Fundraiser Underway

Buy A Goal Donor Sheet in PDF Format

The "Buy a Goal" Fundraiser is designed to help us fundraise for needed equipment and team activities. Last year the UTEP fundraising efforts rose over $5,000.00. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000.00. With your help, we can continue to provide the equipment and experiences for our very deserving student-athletes and compete with the nation's elite!

How does it work?: Throughout the season, the UTEP Miners will be scoring goals to win games this year. Sponsors, like yourself, will either sponsor a flat donation or a cash amount for every goal scored throughout the season that the UTEP Miners score. When the season is over, the goals will be tallied and your donation will be equal to the amount of goals times your cash amount donated per goal.

For example: If UTEP Soccer scores 30 goals this season and you sponsor a $1.00 per goal, you will donate $30.00 to the UTEP Miners' Soccer Gift Fund.

Your pledge will be the amount you check below times the number of goals that UTEP Soccer scores. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY NOW!!! After the season, we will let you know the results of our efforts and the amount of your pledge. At the time we receive your donation, your gifts will be sent out to you!
