Support The Miners At NM State
The UTEP soccer team will kick off its 2010 campaign by venturing up the road to battle New Mexico State in the second-annual battle of I-10 at 7 p.m. in Las Cruces on Aug. 20.
Last year UTEP derailed the Aggies in front of a school-record crowd, 1-0, in overtime to open the season in fine fashion at University Field on Aug. 21, 2009. NM State played very hard, but it was also helped by a solid showing of supporters who made the drive to support their team.

This season, with the game being contested in Las Cruces, it will be up to the Miner fans to make the short trip. In order to make it a great experience, UTEP soccer is teaming up with the UTEP Alumni Association for this event.
The details for the event will be finalized soon, but among the things on tap will be a pre-game tailgate and then heading over to the field to cheer on the Orange and Blue. Be sure to check back here soon for more information.

Run, Jo, Run!
UTEP assistant soccer coach Jo Radcliffe has had a busy summer. She has been working hard to transition into being ready for her first year on the sideline for the Miners, at least in a coaching capacity. Radcliffe, who starred at UTEP from 2007-09, was tabbed as a full-time assistant on July 9.
Even with the busy schedule, though, Radcliffe did find some time to achieve something pretty special. She competed in the widely-renowned San Francisco Marathon on July 31. Radcliffe showed off her toughness and endurance by racing in the first half-course marathon event.

Former Miner Ties The Knot
One of the best parts about UTEP soccer is the family-style atmosphere that surrounds the program. So it is the spirit of that theme that Miner Soccer would like to extend its congratulations to former UTEP standout Leslie Platz on her marriage to Allen Kirkland.
Platz played for UTEP from 2003-06, starting 36 of 77 career matches. She scored three goals and tallied seven assists for 13 points. None of those strikes by the Allen, Texas, native were bigger than her match winner in overtime to send UTEP past Texas, 3-2, in the opening-round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament.

Buy A Goal Fundraiser Underway
The "Buy a Goal" Fundraiser is designed to help us fundraise for needed equipment and team activities. Last year the UTEP fundraising efforts accounted for more than $5,000.00. Our goal this year is to raise $10,000.00. With your help, we can continue to provide the equipment and experiences for our very deserving student-athletes and compete with the nation's elite!
How does it work?: Throughout the season, the UTEP Miners will be scoring goals to win games this year. Sponsors, like yourself, will either sponsor a flat donation or a cash amount for every goal scored throughout the season that the UTEP Miners score. When the season is over, the goals will be tallied and your donation will be equal to the amount of goals times your cash amount donated per goal.
For example: If UTEP Soccer scores 30 goals this season and you sponsor a $1.00 per goal, you will donate $30.00 to the UTEP Miners' Soccer Gift Fund.
Your pledge will be the amount you check below times the number of goals that UTEP Soccer scores. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY NOW!!! After the season, we will let you know the results of our efforts and the amount of your pledge. At the time we receive your donation, your gifts will be sent out to you!
