UTEP Rifle Takes First Place in Triangular Match

El Paso, Texas - The UTEP rifle team edged Reno 4642- 4640 in Jacksonville, Ala. on Saturday to take first in a triangular match. Jacksonville State came in third with an aggregate of 4611. Andrea Palafox paced the Miners in air rifle with a team best 590. Alix Moncada followed closely behind firing 587. Jennifer Aremdariz (585), Andrea Vautrin (579) and Korina Rodriguez (578) rounded out the shooting for the Miners in air rifle. Vautrin topped all Miners in smallbore shooting a 580. Armendariz continued to help lead the Miners to victory firing a 576. Palafox (574), Rodriguez (571) and Moncada (567) all fired in smallbore for UTEP. “The depth of the team is showing it's benefits, everyone has a hand in the team growth,” said head coach George Brenzovich. UTEP will return home next Saturday, Oct. 29 to face Alaska-Fairbanks at the UTEP Rifle Range. The match will start at 8 a.m. and is open to the public.
