Miners Dominate Tiger and Ole Miss Invitationals
EL PASO, Texas -- The UTEP rifle team captured first-place finishes at the Tiger Invitational in Memphis, Tenn. and the Ole Miss Invitational in Oxford, Miss. over the weekend.
UTEP finished with an aggregate total of 1529 in air rifle at the Tiger Invitational to edge out Memphis (1522) and Ole Miss (1520).
Leah Wilcox shot her way to a fourth-place finish with a score of 385. Sarah Paoletta finished fifth, shooting 384 followed by Raichelle Smith with a 381 and Rachel Glenn with a 379.
Paoletta's and Glenn's first and third-place finishes, repectively, helped UTEP garner a first-place finish at the Ole Miss Invitational. The Miners finished with an aggregate score of 6034, followed by Ole Miss with 5980 and Memphis with 5912.
Paoletta had the top smallbore score of 1156 over Jennifer Lorenzen of Ole Miss (1148). Glenn finished third with a score of 1145.
Glenn finished the air rifle portion of the tournament in fifth place, shooting a team-high 385. Paoletta and Wilcox both finished with scores of 383.
The Miners will head to Fort Worth, Texas Oct. 11 for the TCU Horned Frog Invitational.
