MINERS LOOK TO ADVANCE TO NCAA RIFLE CHAMPIONSHIP THIS SATURDAY
Feb. 12, 2010
EL PASO - The UTEP rifle team will have the home field advantage when they face the Nevada Wolfpack this Saturday Feb. 13th at the UTEP Rifle Range. The match will determine who qualifies for the NCAA rifle championship.
The Miners have fallen short of victory in their last four matches against Nevada and TCU and look to seek redemption.
Alix Moncada posted a school record of 596 against the Wolfpack on Nov. 22. Moncada has set the bar high for herself, recording scores above 590 in the last seven matches against Nevada. This Saturday she will try to keep her 590 streak alive.
Andrea Palafox will be looking for a repeat performance after dominating last week against TCU with a score of 592.
The Miners will have to bounce back from the lost against TCU and return with focus and concentration to send the Wolfpack.
