RENO, Nevada – Freshman Rachael Schoenrock fired a career-best 1157 (574-583) to pace the UTEP rifle team at Nevada. The Miners finished with an aggregate of 4478 (2179-2299), with the effort in air rifle being particularly impressive.

Schoenrock’s performance was especially noteworthy given the balanced effort, as she eclipsed 570 in each discipline for the first time of her early career with the Orange and Blue. Senior Korina Rodriguez buoyed the newcomer with 1149 (567-582) while freshman Jessica Kinder showed good mental toughness in overcoming a challenging start in the smallbore (503) to fire a career-best 577 in the air rifle.

Freshman Jasmine Juarez was actually 10 points better than Kinder overall, relying upon a 533 in the smallbore and a 557 in the air rifle to secure a sum of 1090.

It was an exciting day for Areli Oros as well, with a career-high tying 535 in the smallbore. The sharp shooting equaled her score from her freshman campaign on Oct. 30, 2011. She then registered a readout of 539 in the air rifle to wrap up the day at 1074.

UTEP will be back in action when it shares the range with Air Force in Ft. Worth on Nov. 16.
