UTEP Women's Golf Opens C-USA Championship in Sixth Place

The UTEP women's golf team is tied for sixth place with 18 holes complete at the Conference USA Championship in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The Miners, the defending tournament champion, shot 319 on day one of the event, which continues through Wednesday.

Tulsa is in first place (299), with Tulane second (301), UCF third (306), Memphis fourth (310), SMU fifth (313), UTEP & East Carolina sixth (319), UAB & Marshall eighth (321) and Southern Miss 10th (347).

UTEP's Shang-Fan Huang is in 16th place with a five-over-par 77. Camino Sardinero is tied for 24th place (79), Nathalie Castillo is tied for 32nd place (81), Teresa Nogués is tied for 34th place (82) and Emma Burman is in 38th place (84).
