UTEP Women's Golf Team in Sixth Through 18 at Aztec Invitational

The UTEP women's golf team is in sixth place following round one of the Aztec Invitational on Sunday in Chula Vista, Calif.

The Miners shot 300 as a team as they opened their spring schedule. The tournament continues through Tuesday.

UC Irvine is in first place (287), with San Jose State second (288), San Francisco and Arkansas-Little Rock tied for third (293) and Nebraska fifth (299).

Six schools ranked in the top-50 nationally make up a third of the 18-team field.

The individual leader is UC Irvine's Hillary Packard, who fired a four-under-par 68 on Sunday.

For the Miners, Rosana Gomez is tied for 13th place (73), Deborah Martinez is tied for 27th place (75), Stephanie Herrera and Teresa Nogues are tied for 35th place (76), Liz Sobczak is tied for 65th place (79) and Ana Pastor is tied for 88th place (82).
