UTEP Women's Golf Team Ties For Seventh at Price's Tournament

The UTEP women's golf team tied for seventh place at the Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate on Wednesday in Las Cruces.

The Miners shot their low round of 290 on Wednesday, giving them a two-day tally of 900 (308-302-290). The champion of the 13-team tournament was Kansas (294-289-288-871).

Leading UTEP was freshman Maria Velasco, who tied for 21st place with an eight-over-par 224 (77-76-71). Emma Edin tied for 24th place (76-72-77-225), Nathalie Castillo tied for 36th place (76-77-74-227), Emma Burman tied for 43rd place (80-81-68-229) and Camino Sardinero tied for 58th place (79-77-77-233).

The Miners have two more tournaments remaining in their fall schedule - the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate Oct. 13-14 in Palm Desert, Calif., and the Blue Raider Invitational Oct. 22-23 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
