The UTEP women's golf team wrapped up the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational on Tuesday in Albuquerque by taking 16th place.

The Miners did put together their best round of the event on Tuesday as they shot 311, giving them a two-day total of 950 (315-324-311). The 311 was UTEP's second-best round of the young season.

Iowa State presided over the 17-team field by firing 886 (295-296-295). In a frantic finish, three teams -- UC Davis, UNLV and Ohio State -- tied for second place by shooting 887.

The individual champion was Colorado's Jennifer Coleman, who carded an 11-under-par 208 (70-70-68).

UTEP's Nathalie Castillo (78-78-79-235) and Emma Edin (79-78-78-235) tied for 62nd place, Camino Sardinero tied for 74th place (78-84-75-237), Emma Burman finished 87th (80-86-81-247) and Maria Velasco tied for 88th place (86-84-79-249).

"It was a hard golf course," UTEP coach Jere Pelletier said. "My team is young. We played a little better the last day. I saw some improvement. Camino, in particular, played a good round today. I'm hoping we can finish in the top 10 at our next tournament."

The Miners will continue their fall season at the ORU Shootout Oct. 1-2 in Tulsa, Okla.
