UTEP Women's Golf Opens Season With 16th-Place Finish

The UTEP women's golf team took 16th place at its first tournament of the season, the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic, on Tuesday in Fort Collins, Colo.

The Miners shot 949 as a team with rounds of 316, 314 and 319. California won the 17-team tournament, firing 873 (291-296-286).

UTEP was led by Camino Sardinero, who tied for 24th place by shooting 225 (73-75-77). Nathalie Gallacher tied for 65th place (79-76-83-238), Emma Edin finished 74th (81-79-82-242), Emma Burman tied for 77th place (83-84-79-246) and Amber Herrera finished 89th (86-93-81-260). Miner freshman Alisa Rodriguez, competing as an individual, tied for 68th place (82-80-77-239).

Due to inclement weather conditions, the second round was not completed on Monday and resumed on Tuesday morning.

The Miners will next compete at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational Sept. 20-21 in Albuquerque.
