Sardinero Leads Miners at C-USA Championship

Camino Sardinero finished in fourth place with a career-low 214, helping the UTEP women's golf team conclude its season in a tie for 10th place at the Conference USA Championship on Wednesday.

Sardinero fired rounds of 73, 72 and 69 for a two-under-par total, seven strokes behind champion Fabiola Arriaga of UTSA (68-69-70). Sardinero joined Arriaga, Old Dominion's Rachel Walker and three Tulane players (Gemma Dryburgh, Emily Penttila, Belen Goicoechea) on the All-Tournament Team. Her 69 in the final round eclipsed her previous best 18-hole score of 70 earlier this season.

Tulane was champion of the 13-team field (281-291-284-856), with UTSA (286-292-288-866) and Middle Tennessee (294-297-288-879) rounding out the top three.

UTEP's Amber Herrera also shot a career-low round (71) on Wednesday and tied for 46th place (80-82-71-233) with teammate Emma Edin (78-76-79-233). Emma Burman tied for 55th place (81-80-80-241) and Alisa Rodriguez tied for 58th place (83-80-81-244) for the Miners.

Sardinero led UTEP with a 75.9 scoring average in 2013-14. She was the Miners' top finisher at seven of 10 tournaments, and logged two top-10 and five top-20 showings on the year.
