UTEP Women's Golf Team Takes Eighth at Wyoming Cowgirl Classic

The UTEP women's golf team landed eighth at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Wednesday in Chandler, Ariz.

The Miners shot their best round of the tournament on Wednesday, finishing with a three-day tally of 942 (318-317-307).

The tournament title went to Boise State, which shot 901 (307-301-293) to outscore 18 other teams.

UTEP was led by Camino Sardinero, who tied for fourth place with a season-low 225 (75-77-73). She finished eight strokes behind the champion, Boise State's Hayley Young (71-71-72-214).

The Miners' Nathalie Castillo tied for 27th place (80-78-77-235), Emma Burman tied for 46th place (80-83-78-241), Maria Velasco tied for 60th place (85-79-79-243) and Amber Herrera tied for 71st place (83-84-79-246).

UTEP will participate in the Conference USA Championship April 22-24 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
