UTEP Women's Golf Team Finishes Seventh at UALR Classic

A strong final round carried the UTEP women's golf team to a seventh-place showing at the UALR Classic on Tuesday in Hot Springs, Ark.

The Miners were in 12th place through 36 holes of the tournament on Monday, but they shot 311 on Tuesday to finish at 954. UTEP's scores for the first two rounds were 325 and 318.

UTEP's 311 on Tuesday was the third-best round of the day behind Arkansas-Little Rock's 304 and Oral Roberts' 310.

Teresa Nogues led UTEP, tying for 16th place with a 17-over-par 233 (78-81-74). Stephanie Herrera tied for 26th place (79-76-81-236), Ana Pastor tied for 45th place (84-81-77-242), Rosana Gomez tied for 63rd place (84-84-79-247) and Liz Sobczak tied for 67th place (84-80-84-248).

Host Arkansas-Little Rock won the 21-team tournament (303-320-304-927), and Missouri-Kansas City's Kelsey Kipp was the individual champion after firing a 221.
