EL PASO, Texas- Sophomore guard Jenzel Nash will miss the 2012-13 UTEP Women's Basketball season, it was announced by head coach Keitha Adams Monday morning. Nash suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee during the Miners' 69-60 exhibition victory against St. Mary's University on Nov. 3.

"Part of sports is facing adversity," Adams said. "When someone goes down, someone else needs to step up."

Nash is a high-energy player who appeared in 32 games during the record-setting 2011-12 season. She made a trio of starts and was one of eight Miners to produce at least 5.0 points per game. She was third on the team in total steals (31), tied for third in free-throws made (45) and fourth in free throws attempted (67).

The Miners will open up their 2012-13 campaign when they play host to Loyola Marymount at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
