EL PASO, TEXAS- The UTEP women's basketball team will take a break from its preparations for the upcoming 2010-11 season in order to hold its annual "Media Day" at the Foster Stevens Center at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Interviews with the Miners' coaching staff and players will be held at the onset of the event, before the media take center stage for a couple of competitions. There will be a free-throw shooting contest, in addition to a dribbling relay race. Individuals and media teams will be honored at the conclusion of the media day challenge.

UTEP brings back seven letterwinners from last year's squad (16-16), including five individuals who started at last 15 games during the 2009-10 campaign. Notable returnees include juniors Dietra Caldwell (2009 C-USA Freshman of the Year) and Briana Green (two-year starter), sophomore Anete Steinberga (2010 All C-USA freshman team) and senior sharpshooter Sviatlana Trukshanina (.436 career three-point FG%). Buoying the returnees will be seven newcomers (four transfers and three true freshmen).

The Miners, who has the top winning percentage in C-USA over the past four years (84-40;.677), will face St. Mary's in an exhibition contest on Nov. 7. UTEP will tip off the regular season when it plays host to UC Irvine on Nov. 13.
