Monika Carrasco
One of the most beloved players to don the Orange and Blue uniform in recent years, El Paso native Monika Carrasco will now make her contributions to the UTEP women's basketball program as a full-time assistant coach.

Carrasco has been involved with Miner Basketball since walking onto the team as a freshman in 2003. In her four years, while her contributions were not often witnessed by the public, Carrasco won over the hearts of teammates and coaching staff alike by her incredible attitude and tremendous work ethic on a daily basic.

The sentiment from the staff and her teammates was personified best when she scored a career-high four points in UTEP's win against UTPB on Dec. 16, 2006. The bench exploded with both buckets, and Carrasco received a standing ovation from the hometown faithful.

After concluding her playing days, Carrasco began the transition to working alongside head coach Keitha Adams. She displayed tireless work ethic while serving as a program coordinator, and it the effort she put in for two years in that role which would ultimately lead to her appointment as an assistant coach.

Carrasco's duties include overseeing UTEP's film exchange program, serving as a liaison between the team and the Miner Life Skills office, helping run drills in practice while also assisting with local and area recruiting.

She earned her master's degree in science education from UTEP in May 2009. She is the daughter of Arturo and Evangelina Carrasco. The former guard has three brothers and two sisters.
