Photo by IPAPhoto by Ivan Pierre Aguirre 2010-11 (JUNIOR): Secured two of the six major individual Conference USA women's basketball awards ... was tabbed as the 2011 C-USA Newcomer of the Year while also being voted as the league's Sixth Player of the Year ... became third Miner to win Newcomer of Year honor ... chosen to the All C-USA second team as well ... rated amongst the league leaders for several categories, including field-goal percentage (54.9, 2nd), blocked shots (2.2, 2nd), free-throw percentage (80.0, t4th), offensive boards per game (3.1, 5th), rebounds per game (7.2, 11th), defensive rebounds per game (4.1, 13th) and points per game (12.1, 18th) ... paced UTEP in each of those areas, along with double-doubles (eight), double-digit scoring games (21), free-throws made (92) and attempted (115) ... appeared in all 30 games off the bench, earning 18.1 minutes per game ... twice named the C-USA Player of the Week (11/15/10 & 2/14/11) ... accounted for more than half of the Miners' blocks on the year (65-of-117), which was aided by nine games of three or more swats ... scored career-high 23 points, including converting a lay-up on an up-and-under move as time expired, to lift UTEP to a 64-62 triumph against New Mexico (12/20/10) ... pulled down 17 rebounds, a career-high and seventh-most ever at UTEP, against Tulane (2/13/11) ... tallied 22 points in season opener vs. UC Irvine (11/13/10), which tied as the third most points for a Miner in her debut ... nailed 12-of-12 free throws vs. East Carolina (1/6/11), which equaled the most FTM without a miss in program history.
PRIOR TO UTEP: Ranked as the No. 2 recruit at her position and third overall nationally for junior-college players when coming out of Trinity Valley Community College by Dan Olson's Collegiate Girls' Basketball Report ... only play in the JC ranks to rate among the top 15 nationally in blocked shots (2.4-10th), field-goal percentage (62%-third), scoring (19.4-ninth) and rebounding (11.5-14th) ...honors included being first-team all-conference honoree, Region XIV MVP, Region XIV Tournament MVP, All-NJCAA tournament team and honorable mention All-American ... had a two-game stretch where she tallied 55 and 36 points, respectively, en route to being named the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Dec. 10, 2009 ... played one year for N.C. State of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) ... appeared in 18 games as a true freshman... one of six players on squad with double digits in blocks (13) ... signed with the Wolfpack after obliterating the competition at the prep ranks with Neumann-Goretti Catholic High School ... racked up more than 1,800 points, 1,200 rebounds and 400 blocked shots, all of which were school records ... a honorable-mention McDonald's All-American ... rated as the No. 9 power forward and 43 overall by the All-Star Girls Report and No. 32 F by Scout.com ... garnered AP first-team All-State in Class AAAA after leading the league in scoring (19.1), rebounds (10.9), blocked shots (3.8) and steals (2.4) during her senior season ... averaged 20 points, 15 boards and five blocks per game while earning MVP accolades in the Philadelphia Catholic League All-Star game as a junior ... other accomplishments in high school included being a three-time member of the Philadelphia All-Catholic first team and all-area team (2005, 2006 and 2007) ... was also a two-time third team All-Southeastern Pennsylvania member (2005 and 2006).
