UTEP Men's Golf Team Tied For 11th Place at Herb Wimberly

The UTEP men's golf team shot rounds of 290 and 306 on day one of the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces. The 596 aggregate score puts the Miners in a tie for 11th place.

Host New Mexico State leads the 15-team field (276-298-574) heading into Tuesday's final round. Swirling winds affected second-round scores for the majority of the teams.

David Persons is tied for 20th place (74-73-147) to lead UTEP. Devin Miertschin (72-77-149) and Johnny Duncan (74-75-149) are tied for 28th place, Roberto Ruiz is tied for 67th place (70-87-157) and Luke Ovenden is tied for 72nd place (77-81-158).
