Miners in Sixth at Club Glove Invitational

The UTEP men's golf team shot its way to sixth place on the first day of the Club Glove Intercollegiate on Monday in Somis, Calif.

The Miners fired a team score of 590 (294-296) over the opening 36 holes of the tournament, which ends on Tuesday.

Host Pepperdine leads the 12-team field (289-284-573), followed by Arizona State (293-283-576). SMU (288-291-579) and Coastal Carolina (288-291-579) are tied for third place.

Pepperdine's Michael Putnam is first among individuals (67-70-137).

UTEP's James Allenby is tied for 13th place (70-75-145). Three Miners are tied for 34th place -- Colby Lindsay (76-73-149), Trent Rommann (72-77-149) and Michael Goldwater (78-71-149) -- and Manuel Torres is tied for 56th place (76-83-159).
