Miners Tied For Ninth at Western Intercollegiate

The UTEP men's golf team is tied for ninth place through 18 holes of the Western Intercollegiate on Monday in Santa Cruz, Calif.

Originally 36 holes were scheduled to be contested on Monday. However, the second round was postponed until Tuesday morning due to rain and hail in the area.

Additionally, the tournament has been shortened from three rounds to two.

UTEP shot 297 as a team on Monday. Duke leads the 16-team field (284), with UC-Santa Barbara and Stanford tied for second place (289).

Trent Rommann carded a 70 to lead the Miners. He is tied for fourth place, two strokes behind individual leaders Ryan Blaum of Duke and Rob Grube of Stanford (68 apiece).

UTEP's Colby Lindsay and Roger Sloan are tied for 37th place (75), Manuel Torres is tied for 53rd place (77) and Nick Quintela is in 87th place (82).
