Miners in 12th at Pioneer Classic

The UTEP men's golf team is in 12th place after the first day of the Pioneer Classic on Tuesday in Goodyear, Ariz.

The Miners shot rounds of 300 and 289 respectively for an opening day total of 589. Wichita State leads the 15-team field (281-268-549), followed by Nebraska (288-283-571) and Colorado State (289-283-572).

UTEP's James Allenby (75-69-144) and Zac Hildenbrand (72-72-144) are tied for 22nd place, Manuel Torres is tied for 54th place (77-72-149), Facundo Gutierrez is tied for 71st place (76-77-153) and Colby Lindsay is tied for 77th place (79-76-155).

The tournament concludes on Wednesday with 18 holes.
