UTEP Men's Golf Team in Sixth Place After 18 Holes of John Burns

The UTEP men's golf team is in sixth place through one round of the John Burns Intercollegiate on Wednesday in Kahuku, Hawaii.

The Miners shot 302 on the first day of the tournament, which continues through Friday. California leads the 16-team field (284), with New Mexico second (287), and three teams (Air Force, BYU, Colorado State) tied for third (292).

Roberto Ruiz leads UTEP after carding a one-over-par 73 on Wednesday. Martin Simonsen is tied for 29th place (75), Devin Miertschin is tied for 38th place (76), Jere Pelletier is tied for 57th place (78) and David Persons is tied for 76th place (81).
