The UTEP men's golf team picked up a seventh place showing at the Conference USA Championship on Tuesday in Texarkana, Ark.

The Miners posted rounds of 289, 298 and 296 for a three-day total of 883. Houston was champion of the 12-team event, carding 857.

UTEP's top finisher was Jere Pelletier, who fired a three-over-par 219 (73-72-74) and tied for 14th place. The Miners' Roberto Ruiz (74-75-71-220) and Martin Simonsen (68-76-76-220) also placed in the top-20, tying for 18th place, while Devin Miertschin tied for 46th place (77-77-75-229) and Jerry Castellon tied for 48th place (74-75-81-230).

"I'm glad we finished our season on a higher note," UTEP coach Scott Lieberwirth said. "We were definitely more competitive this week than we have been this spring. Jere Pelletier and Roberto Ruiz both had strong tournaments. Martin Simonsen struggled a little the last couple of days, but he put together a decent tournament as well."
