UTEP Men's Golf Team Ends Cowboy Classic in 23rd Place

The UTEP men's golf team capped the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Tuesday in 23rd place.

The Miners shot 615 as a team with rounds of 310 and 305. The tournament was shortened from 54 holes to 36 due to inclement weather conditions on Monday.

Gonzaga won the 24-team tournament, firing 574 (299-275).

UTEP was led by Jacob Loya, who tied for 47th place (74-76-150). Jere Pelletier tied for 72nd place (79-74-153), Roberto Ruiz tied for 80th place (76-78-154), Devin Miertschin tied for 100th place (81-77-158) and Martin Simonsen tied for 105th place (81-78-159).

The Miners will play in the Western Intercollegiate on Saturday and Sunday in Santa Cruz, Calif., their final tuneup for the Conference USA Championship two weeks from now.
