UTEP Men's Golf Team Lands 13th at NIT

Going up against a powerhouse field that featured eight top-50 teams, the UTEP men's golf team finished 13th out of 14 schools at the National Invitational Tournament on Sunday in Tucson.

The Miners carded rounds of 298, 295 and 296 respectively for a total of 889.

Third-ranked California was the tournament champ (268-281-282-831), followed by second-ranked Oklahoma State (282-288-276-846) and 32nd-ranked SMU (290-275-281-846).

UTEP's Frederik Dreier tied for 23rd place with a one-under-par 215 (73-71-71). Martin Simonsen tied for 51st place (73-75-74-222), Roberto Ruiz tied for 62nd place (75-74-75-224), Jacob Loya tied for 70th place (77-75-77-229) and Jere Pelletier tied for 74th place (77-78-76-231).

The Miners will next participate in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic April 7-8 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
