UTEP Men's Golf Team Caps John Burns Intercollegiate

The UTEP men's golf team wrapped up competition at the John Burns Intercollegiate on Friday in Kahuku, Hawaii, tying for 15th place.

The Miners shot rounds of 304, 303 and 306 respectively for a total of 913.

California maintained its perch atop the 18-team field by posting a three-day total of 847.

UTEP's top finisher was freshman Martin Simonsen, who tied for 23rd place with a one-over-par 217 (70-71-76). Jere Pelletier tied for 74th place (80-79-72-231), Devin Miertschin tied for 78th place (74-78-80-232), Jerry Castrellon tied for 81st place (80-75-78-233), and Ryan Fioretti tied for 102nd place (85-80-83-248).

The Miners will return to action at the Wyoming Desert Classic next weekend in Palm Springs, Calif.
