Oct. 26, 2009
UTEP junior running back Donald Buckram was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, marking the second time he has been honored this season. Buckram rushed 26 times for 165 yards (6.3 avg.) and two TDs, including the game winner, in UTEP's 28-24 come-from-behind win over Tulsa on Wednesday in the Sun Bowl. He had a big fourth quarter versus the Golden Hurricane as the Miners rallied from a 24-13 deficit in the final period. Buckram compiled 10 carries for 76 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. It marked the only rushing touchdowns that Tulsa has allowed in seven games this season. Buckram scored on runs of 8 and 3 yards and also made a big catch on UTEP's second to last scoring drive to convert a 4th and 3. He added four catches for 26 yards in the game, tying his career best for receptions.
